Overview
A pure score-based special promotion
The Gold Rush HOA is a High-Over-All special trophy promotion based on your total HOA score.
This promotion does not follow standard ATA HOA class or category structure or rules.
The top overall scores fill 10 places, regardless of class or category, and compete head-to-head for gold.
Your HOA score gets you to the show, but if you tie you have to fight for your gold. If you're the lone score at your position, you take the gold outright. The top aggregate scores earn a spot in the Gold Rush Shootoff, but your final placement and your bag of gold are won on the shootoff field.

Eligibility
No entry fee. 900 targets.
- There is no entry fee for the Gold Rush HOA.
- Every registered shooter who completes all 8 qualifying events (900 targets) is automatically entered.
- A shooter must fire all 900 targets to be eligible. Incomplete scorecards will not qualify.
- There are no class or category divisions.

How it works
Score ranks you. Ties send you to the shootoff.
- After all 8 qualifying events are completed, aggregate scores (out of 900) are ranked from highest to lowest.
- Starting with the highest score, places are filled from 1st through 10th. Tied scores occupy consecutive places. If four shooters tie with the top score, they fill 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th and shoot off to determine who gets what.
- The next highest score fills the next available place, and so on, until all 10 places are filled.
- The total number of shooters in the Gold Rush may exceed 10. If your score touches a top-10 place, you're in the show, but there are only 10 bags of gold. You may have to fight for yours.
- If you're the lone score at a position, you take the gold outright. No shootoff needed.
- Each finisher receives a gold payout corresponding to their final placement.

Where the Gold Finds Its Home!
The Gold Rush Shootoff is an independent event, completely separate from all other shootoffs during the week. No other shootoff scores count toward this competition. When two or more qualifiers share the same aggregate score, they settle it here.

Procedures
- Tied shooters compete in 50-target rounds as described above.
- After each round, scores are compared. If the tie is broken (all tied shooters have different scores), placement is determined by that round's results.
- If any shooters remain tied after a round, they continue shooting additional 50-target rounds until all tied positions are resolved.
- For the handicap portion of the shootoff, each shooter shoots handicap targets from their own assigned ATA yardage.
- If a shooter is unable or unwilling to participate in the shootoff, they will automatically be assigned the lowest available position among the tied places.
- If multiple shooters forfeit the shootoff, shoot management will flip a coin for place.

Examples
How it plays out
Example 1 · Clean Top 10, No Ties
Ten shooters, ten different scores. The highest score takes 1st (2.00 oz), second-highest takes 2nd (1.00 oz), and so on down to 10th. No shootoffs. Walk up, collect your gold, tip your hat.
Example 2 · Three-Way Tie at the Top
Three shooters each finish with an 890, the highest aggregate score. They've punched their ticket, but now they've got to fight for their gold. All three enter the Gold Rush Shootoff for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd:
- Round 1 (50 targets): Shooter A hits 49, Shooter B hits 47, Shooter C hits 47.
- Shooter A wins 1st place (2.00 oz). Shooters B and C remain tied for 2nd and 3rd.
- Round 2 (50 targets): Shooter B hits 48, Shooter C hits 46.
- Shooter B takes 2nd (1.00 oz). Shooter C takes 3rd (0.70 oz). The next highest aggregate score starts at 4th.
Example 3 · Tie in the Middle
The top 3 are decided with no ties. Then four shooters are tied at 882. They fill places 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th and shoot off to sort out who gets 0.60, 0.50, 0.40, and 0.30 oz. The remaining scores fill 8th, 9th, and 10th.
Example 4 · The 10th Place Battle
Nine places are filled cleanly. Three shooters are tied at the score that touches 10th place. All three earned their way to the show, but there's only one bag of gold left. They shoot off and the winner takes 10th place (0.10 oz). The other two go home with a hell of a story but no gold. That's the Gold Rush.
Example 5 · Shooter Declines Shootoff
Two shooters tie for 6th and 7th. One declines the shootoff. The declining shooter is automatically assigned 7th place (0.30 oz) and the other takes 6th (0.40 oz). You can always take the low seat, but where's the fun in that?
Final authority
Shoot management has the final say.
Any situation, occurrence, or scenario requiring a judgment call will be resolved at the discretion of shoot management. All shoot management decisions are final. Good luck!
